He should have known, Aang realizes as he sinks down next to Zuko's body in a daze, that such a bright flame could never keep burning for long.

The baby dragon curled up right between her two sleeping parents and purred, as Aang maneuvered to draw them all closer together.

Kaiba never broke his eyes away from his rival..at least until Atem walked so proudly through those doors, and he just couldn't watch any more.

The last piece of the puzzle fit in with a snap, the eye on the front flashed, and Kaiba's mind was suddenly filled with an overwhelming darkness.

"If you want the pants off for the lap dance, it's going to be another thousand yen," the brunet said calmly as he hooked his leg around the Kaiba Corporation produced pole.

"He's got first chance at a game, Seto," Atem said with a shrug as they both stared down the blond, black-cloaked stranger currently cutting a deck of playing cards.

Kaiba stared at him with the most open expression Atem had ever seen the first time he used his first name.

Demyx grinned at the water finally dancing along with his sitar as Vexen watched with not quite approval.

"I never have gotten to see snow," Demyx said wistfully as Vexen just smiled thoughtfully.

"Come on, Vexen, you can fight with the pot lid, and I'll use the broom!"

The boy just wept over the loss of his heart no matter how many times he explained his status as a Nobody, a phenomena Vexen had never seen before.

The light faded, and Seto was left alone in his office, his failure to pull her through with him burning in his heart.

"So you want to skate, and I need a partner," Kaiba said as he balanced stock still on the ice, "and you're assuming a deal can't be made?"

They both just glared at the handcuffs, perhaps hoping that the combined force would be enough to melt them off.

"You are going to keep an eye on my sons," the older man said as he chomped on his cigar and stared down the red headed teenager, "and make sure everyone does as they are told."

"It's alright, Seto Kaiba," she said as her lips twitched in amusement, "you'll do better next time."

It wasn't obvious, but Cissnei knew something was different when she could lean against him without making him flinch.

She saw him from a distance as he started to shut down without his brother or his rival there to keep him going, and it made her heart ache.

She would make sure, even while he bit into her neck and took her blood, that her light would never burn him.

"Get rid of this outfit," Kaiba hissed as he contorted in every way to try and cover all that the Starlight's uniform exposed, "NOW."

"I'm the Moon," she said brightly as she held her hand out over the conference table and tried to make herself heard over all the other countries chatting, "but I guess that's not as important as a place with lots of people like Domino City, huh?"
