All right, so it's public news that I am expecting my first child in late February. While my 'real' life will probably have all the usual pastel-tinted, cutesy, lace-trimmed events and genuinely well-meaning but cliché platitudes, I'm hoping fandom will bring the fun stuff.

Arthur/Eames kidfic! Communication Breakdown

Eames hands are sweating so badly that the keys on his mobile are wet by the time he's finished texting Arthur.

Sounds like: abah sife

Cassie, their two-year-old daughter (Eames' biological and Arthur's adopted), stands in the middle of their living room and declares for the fourth time in as many minutes, "Abah sife." Her hands are clenched and her arms are military straight at her sides. She looks thoroughly unimpressed with Eames' panic attack. Fucking hell, Eames thinks. Arthur is contagious.

Eames gets down on one knee in front of Cassie, curls a hand around her shoulder and ducks forward to place a kiss in between her eyebrows. "I'm sorry, love. It's not your fault that your dad is an idiot. Just give us a second, yeah?"

Eames' phone chirps, and he looks down at it and opens the text without taking his hand off of Cassie's shoulder. Cassie huffs out a small, high pitched whine and presses her face into Eames' neck. Eames rubs his hand up and down her spine - a motion made entirely of instinct - as he reads Arthur's text.
