It shouldn't be possible to be in love with someone while liking someone else. I mean it's not like the person I'm in love with loves me back, or so she says, and it's not like we've been involved recently. But I'm dating Thomas. And I like him. I enjoy talking to him. I enjoying kissing him. But I'm still in love with Kathleen...I don't understand ( Read more... )

Voice of long, painful experience here: it is entirely possible to love someone and like someone else at the same time. It's possible to love and/or like several someones at the same time. You're not leading Thomas on by still loving Kathleen. The only way you could lead him on is by letting him believe, through lie or omission, that you don't want something he does (long-term, marriage, whatever that is.) If that's not the case, and you're both on the same page, then what's the sin? There's nothing wrong with wanting a relationship, or just someone to be with.

It SUCKS loving someone like you do, and not being able to be with them. It sucks even more when you know there's something deeper, and it doesn't go away. I did it for years with AJ, I'm pretty familiar with the feeling. I don't know what to tell you to help, because there's no magic pill to make it stop. But if you need anyone to talk to, I'm here.
