CHARACTER
name C.C.
series Code Geass
personality
C.C.´s complicated personality and detachment from things makes it really hard to understand and to read her. Her past experiences have made her a lonely person who has closed herself off from everything that is humanity. Feelings are fleeting moments and she trys to stay detached from other beings, which lets her looks like a disinterested person without a reason to fight at all. Her determination lays in it to find a solution to her greatest wish. It´s assumed that her real wish is it to have a real genuine friend at her side. Outwardly she declares that her greatest wish is it to die and to bring an end to the accumulation of experience in her life.
She has little care for other people, taking up an air of being selfish and rather sarcastic. She does what she wants, when she wants and gives a damn about it what other might think. When people ask her a question she might respond with another question or she gives him the silent treatment. It depends always on her mood and situation. However when the boredom gets to much for her she searches out other entertainment methods; like the teasing of other people. Thereby she can be rather blunt and cruel. Her observations are mostly correct and to the point. She likes to put people in impossible situation and to make them uncomfortable from time to time. She likes to question the motives of others to the point that she could count as a bother. It happens often with Kallen as the victim. She is an observer, she leans back and watches, letting the things play out by themselves until she is asked to help.
She is her own person. She isn´t a simple pawn to control and to lead on. She has an attitude and won´t take much abuse from anyone, not even from Lelouch. He often enough needed to learn that C.C. wouldn´t bow down to him. She would follow him as an equal but not as a pawn. She doesn't have loyalty to anybody except when it comes to Lelouch and his plans. She tells him her real name by accident, she shows him her true self and in return he lets down his own guard around her. They both accept each how they are, which helps CC to slowly gain some of her human traits back. She is a great ally. She stays true to her own promise and stays at Lelouch´s side the whole time, becoming his shield and his support.
She is really hard to upset, phase or startle. She takes the most things in strides even when it might bother her. She rarely shows what she really thinks. She doesn´t like it to show weakness to strangers, so far she has shown her softer sides only to Mao, Marianne and Lelouch. However only Lelouch has had the chance to see in her deeper self and to learn about her past and about her true wish.
Sometimes she seems to be rather lazy and lethargic, living from day to day. Time or death is a meaningless concept to her. Due to her immortality, the different ways to die have long lost the novelty to her. That´s why she rarely shows any grief if somebody dies. After all death is a concept made for humans and to give their limited life span a meaning and not for immortal witches.
In the series it seems that her only real and deeper interactions have happened with Lelouch. In the presence of Kallen or other members like Tamaki her teasing and crueler side comes out to play.
It´s also to say that modesty seems to be a foreign word to her. She never cares about it how she dress or how much she shows of herself to Lelouch and other people, something which leads often to embarrassing situation for the others party involved.
Beside her position as an observer and an adviser she shows that she can be a leader too. In the one year of Lelouch´s absence she takes over the command and prepares with the Black Knights the recapturing of Zero.
canon history
Information: I will take C.C. from the end of the series after Lelouch´s death.
C.C. was an orphan and a slave girl. She seemed to be threatened badly by her owner so that she finally ran away at the tender age of ten. On her run she stumbled into a church and met an immortal nun who asked her what she wanted. She replied that she didn´t care what happened but she wanted to live. The nun offered her a contract which would give her the power to live on and to make her strong enough to fulfill her wish. C.C. agreed, not suspecting that this would change her life forever. She was bestowed with the power of Geass. Her Geass was the power to make everybody fall in love with her. In the beginning she was happy about this power but as she grew older she was getting fed up by the constant proposals and offers. People were even willing to become her slave only to get some attention from her. By now her Geass had reached its full potential. In both of her eyes were shown the red sign of the Geass power. That was also the time that the immortal nun showed her true face to C.C. The young girl had trusted her with her life and always thought that only the nun was really caring about her but in the end she was only a pawn in the final game of the immortal nun. The woman had only searched for a replacement to escape the cursed life of immortality and C.C. had been the chosen one. C.C. was left broken and dying with the sign of immortality on her forehead and under her left breast. After that her spoiled and rather friendly and open personality changed to a bitter self and later to a detached, emotionless being which seemed to have lost anything which could be called as humanity.
In the hundreds of years which followed until she finally met the best candidate to fulfill her wish she lived through multiple deaths. She was burned, tortured, shot and beheaded. It can be assumed that she knew a lot ways to die because it seemed that her life was a series of deaths and reawakenings. She was a living witness of history, C.C. wandered over the Earth and met a few interesting people, like Shakespeare, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and it could be assumed that she met other important personalities too.
Then one day she met Lelouch. After a row of events she offered him a contract and the power to change the world. Therefore he needed to fulfill her greatest wish. Lelouch agreed and she gave Lelouch a Geass which gave him the power to manipulate the people to his wishes.
C.C. followed Lelouch to his home and reminded him of the contract. She declared them as accomplices. From that point she passively observed Lelouch´s doing as Zero, bounded to her promise to keep him alive she stepped in when it would be to risky for Lelouch. She took over the role as Zero and sacrificed herself a few time to guarantee Lelouch´s survival. After all death couldn´t keep her. In their time together she acted as an adviser and helper, her only loyalty seemed to lay with Lelouch. Her position in the organization of the Black Knights was questioned a few times. It seemed that she knew the most of Zero and his identity but she was even more closed about things than the leader himself. She seemed always outside of the group, never really fitting in the organization itself. Later she took over the pilot job for Zero´s new Knightmare Frame Gawain while Zero was operating the weapon systems of the machine.
In the final state of the first season C.C. and Lelouch triggered a trap with their Knightmare frame and were pulled inside of C.C.´s memories. C.C. watched her own life passively and without any emotions. Lelouch questioned her and she answered truthfully that these were all the memories of an immortal witch. Her existence seemed to be an endless sea of loneliness. Too much to carry without getting lost in it over the time. She told him that she could no longer remember who loved her and who hated her. She was alone all the time. Lelouch disagreed with her and told her: „You´re not alone. We are each other´s accomplice. If you are a witch then I shall be a warlock.“ Those words later granted him her absolute loyalty and support until the very end. After this memory sharing C.C. brought Lelouch time to save his sister by taking up the battle against Jeremiah alone with their Knightmare Frame Gawain. She was killed in this battle.
From there it should pass by one year before C.C. was able to save the captured Lelouch out of the arms of the Britannia´s army. Lelouch had been caught after the last battle and brainwashed. C.C. seemed to have taken over the command of the surviving Black Knights. She managed to restore his memories with a kiss and to bring back the legendary Zero.
The battles and plans were picked up again and C.C. got more involved than before in the battles and in the planning of taking down the emperor and Britannia. She was ordered by Lelouch to take out her own founded foundation with the name Geass Order. It turned out that at one point in the history of Britannia C.C. had conspired with Lelouch´s mother and father and founded together with Lelouch´s father and Charles´s brother an Order for the Geass cult. The witch had left the order as she noticed that this wasn´t what she wanted. V.V. (Charles´s brother) and Charles (Lelouch´s father) continued their work to find the way to immortality. In the battle against the order the true wish of C.C. was finally revealed to Lelouch. She told him that she wanted to use him to find an end to her endless existence. The discussion between them ended with her agreement that not Lelouch but Charles should get her code and fulfill her last wish. Lelouch was sent away from her in her own gallery of memories. There Lelouch met the witch´s second self. A detached person, void of any emotions. C.C.´s second self explained Lelouch how she grew up and how she obtained the code herself. Lelouch needed to see that the witch´s life was an endless circle of death, betrayal and lost. And he obtained the knowledge of her real wish which he used to rescue her from Charles´s attempt to kill her.
After this rescue C.C. banned her own code in herself with the side effect that she was reduced back to the little slave girl she once was. Lelouch took her back to the Black Knights. It was obvious that this C.C. was a complete different person as the witch everybody was used too. Lelouch kept her a secret in his quarters until Kallen discovered her. This new C.C. seemed to be useless for Zero/Lelouch´s plans but she wasn´t abandoned but remained in Zero´s quarters.
After that the events took a new turn, Lelouch´s real identity was exposed to the Black Knights which wanted to extradite him to the Britannia army. He could escape thanks Rolo´s help. C.C. was left behind in the headquarters where Marianne (Lelouch´s death mother) in Anya´s body found her later and restored her memories. Marianne took C.C. with her to the island where the gate to the Sword of Akasha was located. There they met Suzaku and took him with them. Lelouch was already within the world of C where the sword of Akasha was installed. There it came to the last show down between Lelouch and his parents. C.C. herself acted as a simple observer, not really caring what happened with both her former contractors. She followed Lelouch now and had faith in his promise to her that he would make her smile and only then she was allowed to die.
Lelouch seized up the throne of Britannia and geassed all the people into submission. She was still at his side as an observer and later as his shield. Suzaku gave her this title as a sign that she should take up the role to hold Lelouch together. She took up the role without hesitation, supporting and protecting Lelouch until the final day arrived.
verde history
Family background: orphan
Occupation: Junior student philosophy
Part-time job: helper in a little bookshop
Hobbies: reading, writing, mystical and esoteric things
C.C. lost her parents during an accident as she was a little baby. She was raised and educated in a small orphanage near the border of the small village Verde. In the first years C.C. grew up as a shy, friendly and obedient person. This changed as she reached the tender age of ten. One night changed her from the bottom up. She didn´t know what happened in this night as she wandered outside after the curfew but the open and helpful girl in her seemed to fade away and was replaced with a detached and sometimes lonely looking person. She pulled back from the other children and seemed to adapt a rather aloof nature. The result of her cold personality was that nobody wanted to adopt her anymore. She didn´t care about it. She was better of alone anyway.
At 14 she finally was allowed to leave the orphanage and got a little flat right over an old bookstore. The orphanage was still supporting her with her education. Through the lack of friends and too much time at her hands she was one of the best pupils in school. She made it to the university and picked up a rather unusual subject as her major class: Philosophy. She was caught reading often alone for herself or watching the sky with some kind of forlorn expression on her face. However in the presence of others she often acted like a selfish person, teasing and not caring what the other thought about her.
She was an outsider, she wasn´t part of a large clique or particularly popular. Some people gave her the nickname white witch because of her odd interests in occult things and the mark on her forehead. Nobody could explain why she had such a strange sign on her forehead but the people in the orphanage told her that she had it since she was a little baby. She made the best out of her reputation and offered different services to the other villages, be it reading of cards or the mixing of potions after old domestic remedies. Her price was simple. The people got what they wanted and for that she could call in a favor someday. It was a good business.
Through her interest in mystical and esoteric things she considered founding a mystical club at the university if she would find enough club members. However her own laziness got in the way with those plans. Maybe she would manage it before she graduated from the university.
Out of sheer boredom and because she enjoyed a good (fictional) book from time to time she picked up a part time job in the little bookshop right under her little flat.
She found out early in her youth that sex was a rather fun part time hobby even when she was rather picky with her partners. She didn´t like it if somebody coudn't satisfy her needs. She liked it to try out new things and was always on the search of willing partner for one of her new ideas. This was sometime harder than expected because that was the downside of her reputation. People were careful around her and she needed yet to find somebody who would have enough patience to stay at her side as a friend.
sexual orientation
CC seems to be heterosexual. She is seen kissing Lelouch (Season 1, episode 25) and she sometimes shows small traits of jealousy when Lelouch gets too close to Kallen or Shirley. Her history shows that she had only male admirers. And she admits that Mao was her lover once (Season 1, episode 15). But it doesn´t seem that she is a narrowed minded person.
