Caucuses and primaries

It was interesting to watch the Iowa coverage last night, but I've always felt really disconnected from the caucus/primary thing. It feels like the least democratic part of the process, since by the time the majority have any say whatsoever, a few states, the party big whigs, and the media have already pretty much decided the candidate. Actually, because of Super Tuesday (i.e. February 5, when NM has its primary) the NM primary will still matter. Having almost all of the primaries on a single day may actually make some democratic sense. You should vote. It will make you all non-cynical and happy.

I was thinking the primaries were in June, since that's when they were in 2006, but I guess it's different in Presidential years. Thanks for reminding me!

I have a feeling there will more-or-less already be a candidate by Feb. 5, but I do intend to vote anyway. My cynicism has never stopped me from voting before. It might not make much of a difference, but then again it might make enough of a difference to make it worth walking over to my polling place for a few minutes. I intend to keep voting until someone tells me I can't.
