unfortunately most americans are consumers...hence why everyone is in debt...we're consuming too much

Fantastic talk! I saw this about 6 months ago, he hits the nail on the head, and is entertaining to boot :). I'm hoping the future brings a more civil aesthetic to urban design that doesn't feel so bland...

There are reasons why I wanted to move to cincinnati and later chicago so much, I grew up in the "wasteland" Mr. Kunstler talks about and didn't want anything else to do with it... Lets hope its our generation that brings the cities back to their former glory.

Btw, check out the other stuff on TED, its all really good...
