Kelli's Fundraiser

Mar 10, 2009 06:57

Many of you will remember a few months ago when I pimped out my dog to help raise money for my friend and old coworker, Kelli, who was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) not too long ago. Through your kindness and generosity, we were able to raise almost $500 ( Read more... )

I am so there with jewelry! It'll be a set: necklace and earrings. If you want to have any input, you can go to www.beadworkbymelissa.artfire.com and tell me if there's a particular style or colors you like. Otherwise I'll just pick something out.

Not sure what the best way to get this to you is... maybe we can get together for coffee (and a chance to talk *away* from fest!) or maybe mail it to you...

Very cool! I'm sure any of the clinic girls who went would LOVE to bid on something like that.

You should drop a line to the Twins' public affairs people. Baseball is usually pretty big about partnering in ALS-related events. I haven't worked with them personally, but the media relations people with baseball clubs are usually pretty good in small markets.

The people you want are Josh Ortiz (joshortiz@twinsbaseball.com), Community Programs Coordinator and Glo Westerdahl (gloriawesterdahl@twinsbaseball.com) Community Relations Coordinator. Touch base (no pun) with them and see if they can provide a jersey or ball or player appearance or something.

According to this page, former Twins star Kent Hrbek is involved with the ALS Association on MN. Nothing draws a crowd like a celebrity.

Good luck!

I forwarded all this info to MLL, who is organizing the silent auction. Thanks!

Incidentally, I love Kent Hrbek. For my 28th birthday my dad tracked him down and had him autograph the home run ball we caught when I was 9.

I got your email and I'm happy to post the flyer in the window. SaraCura can also donate an item. Let me know when you can stop by to pick it up. I'm here all day on Friday and from 3 to 7 on Saturday.

Would you email me a letter about it (jillbernard AT gmail.com) that I can drop off at ComedySportz, just a formal request sort of a thing? They will donate two tickets I'm pretty sure.
