FUCKING HELL ETH FUCK.

I never considered the dreambubble potential for crossovers much less how the timelines plus the technology timeline we see in Watchmen would line up nicely with a couple of 13 year old kids with sylladexes playing a game in 2009.

And the mix between time spent alone and aware of being dead and caught up in his own memories ffffffff ;O;. And you write the imagery and watery nature of the dreambubbles just beautifully.

It's funny sometimes how all the pieces can just... slot together, and you realize halfway through something completely ridiculous that YES, THIS ACTUALLY MAKES A LOT OF SENSE. I mean, sylladexes, transportalizers, reality altering computer games--those all reek of Manhattan tech run amok with by an egotistical lunatic trying to make the world perfect in his own twisted, 70s-scifi-geek-lets-drop-an-alien-squid-on-them-to-make-world-peace kind of way. (Who may just have a large investment in Betty Crocker by the early 2000's. Just sayin'.) It almost makes TOO MUCH sense.

Plus, yeah, the whole death/dreambubble thing is just an inherently poignant stage to set things on. Ror never even lived his own life with this kind of abandon; it's the closest thing to a reward that he can have, but even that's illusory, because eventually everyone always figures out that the memories aren't real. Poor bb with his dead ghost eyes under the mask... :(
