Down

Damn, I'm really down about Bush. I just can't believe it happened. The truth is, nobody, even the people supporting him in the lines to vote, could give me a solid good reason to vote for him. I don't think I'd be so troubled if the future didn't look so gloomy. The draft alone scares the shit out of me, and since that Osama tape, I don't have ( Read more... )

I didnt vote. For two reasons, one- i wasnt in miami, and two- cuz i wasnt gunna vote for kerry, so its not like my vote would have made a difference. but one thing that still pisses me off, is that argument that a vote for nader (or any other third pary candidate) is taking away a vote from kerry. hate to break it to you, but not all people who liked nader were gunna vote for kerry.

its a stupid argument. be mad at the people who voted for bush, not the people who voted for someone they actually believed in.

and im not sure you noticed, but your vote for kerry didnt even fucking count since the pussy conceded.

Well, after looking at the vote counts, I can't find states where Nader's votes would of made Kerry win. I still think though that this election was not the time to vote for him. I'm all for 3rd Parties, but not when we have Mr. Nucular in office. Keep in mind tough that Nader recieved money from the republican party to run, because the republican party knew more people would vote for Nader who disliked Bush over Kerry.

As for voting, absentee ballot, no excuse. If you don't vote against him, let alone vote at all, don't complain when Bush manages to fuck as all again.

Kerry's decision to concede can hardly be dubbed weak or cowardice. actually, i believe it was courageous and honorable. his message to the american people was not, "i'm giving up to the bush dynasty" but rather, that we have to end the bitter fighting between us and work together. for the last month, republicans and democrats have been viciously attacking each other or ganing up together to attack members of 3rd parties. it has accomplished nothing except to divide the nation further. Kerry's concession was a show of good-faith to republicans and democrats alike. his decision to stop fighting and start working and getting things done is exactly the right example to set for all republicans and democrats. especially since the republicans have control of everything, it's important that all non-republicans work harder to let themselves be heard (otherwise, this will ultimately end up a fascist regime).

I'll move to Canada with you lol.
I understand what you mean about Nader, I have nothing against the man but he knows and his followers know that America is not ready for him.
People who truly wanted Bush out of office should have set differences aside and voted for Kerry. That could have made a huge difference.

Damn you all, you Bush loving freaks. Let's see how your President fucks up now!

As bad as it sounds, I hope Osama attacks us again, so this time it comes down on Bush for not protecting us like he said he is doing by keeping troops in Iraq.

Alex, don't even say that.
I wouldn't wish an attack on my worst enemy.

Well, maybe that was a little out spoken in a time of emotion, but I'm feel pretty raped on this whole thing

In Ohio, the machines that didnt allow paper ballots had a -25,000,000 turnout. People would go to vote and the machine would crash when they voted for Kerry. THe Ohio Senate REFUSED to allow a paper ballot backup until 2006.

The election was rigged, and I feel very screwed right now.

Alex, I don't think it's fair to attack people because they voted third party/Nader. Actually, it's not fair to attack anyone for voting for anybody. it is essentially the anti-thesis of what to do to people who vote.

but i do believe it IS okay to attack those who were eligible to vote but didn't. there is honestly no excuse for not voting, unless you're in a coma or something else catastrophic. any body can get an absentee ballot. and it is every american citizen's duty to go out and do the real research his/her own self concerning voting and candidates. laziness is not a virtue, and certainly not a quality the founding fathers wanted to instill into americans.

voting for anybody that is not a rebulican/democrat isn't throwing your vote away because it's speaking what you truly believe. if you really want to argue what's throwing you're vote away, then i would say throwing your vote away is voting for somebody you DON'T believe in.

I think everyone needs to stop attacking Alex for his attack on the Nader voters. As his LJ title says, it's HIS place for bitching, so let him bitch about whatever he so desires.
He's not saying the Nader voters are stupid (my boyfriend voted for Nader, and he's definitely not stupid), Alex is just saying that this was a really important election to vote either democrat or republican, and if people wanted to make a point or show where they stand, they should have done it at a time where the outcome wasn't so crucial.
Anyways, move to England and take me with you! *Nods in agreement with herself*.
