Hypothetically...

This kid comes by with a bat and breaks my front window.

I get mad at the kid who broke the window.

However, some of my frustration with the kid is going to be directed at the broken window (And the kid's friends, and the other windows, etc...) even though all the window did is sit there and have a bat swung at it.
