This wax plant was first given to me either by my mother or by my aunt. It took some time for the plant to settle in, but eventually it thrived, flowering all the time. Somehow it seemed to suit the plant that I tend to forget watering for couple of weeks often enough.

So, after couple of years in our house, the plant flowered, but that might not have been such a bright idea. As I noticed the plant and as it was spring and other plants usually spend the summer outside, so same fate awaited the wax plant.

The trouble is that while the inside plants thrive outside, my yard lacks the shady spots those plants prefer. I have eventually given up and the plants all spend the summers behind the compost box now (as seen on the picture above). But back then I still hoped to figure out how I could still see my plants when I step out, not only when emptying the garbage pail into the compost box. I even thought about seeking out a military supplies outlet and buying some of that camouflage net that the army uses to hide from being seen from planes - I figured that kind of net would give enough shade.

But - the spot I had chosen for the wax plant had been a mistake and the direct sun hit the plant and burned it. I tried to mend the matters by bringing the plant back in, but it still lost all the leaves.

By that time things were getting out of hand for me and so I kept meaning to throw the apparently dead plant away for half a year. After 6 months I saw a tiny leaf, so I did not even think about the task of throwing it away. I kept watering it when I watered the others and so couple of years went by and slowly there was second leaf and third and so on. And today I noticed that the plant has gotten ready to flower again.

It kind of annoys me - the handbooks say the plant wants sun and regular watering, so it should be dead, but somehow it has gotten back into the saddle and means to flower again instead of being dead as it should be.
