That sucks. My car got broken into once in Brighton. Judging by the damage to the steering column, the perpetrator attempted but failed to steal the car, presumably because there was a kill-switch, so the right directional had to be on or else the car wouldn't start. It cost a lot of money to fix (just under the deductible, of course).
There was also another time when I couldn't find my car. I had parked on sen_no_ongaku's street (back when I lived nearby), but it was gone by the time I went back several days later. It turned out that gas or oil was leaking from it, someone had called the cops, and it had gotten towed. I ended up having to walk to the police station in Brighton center, and thence to a car lot on Western Ave. to get it back.
Good luck finding yours, and dealing with the associated hassle.
Ugh. I know how violated and vulnerable I felt after having my apartment burglarized - I can only imagine how painful it is to lose such an important possession. As thomascantor says, there are possibilities other than theft, but I imagine you've contacted the police already.
Yeah, having not had my home area entered I don't feel too violated, but I am a bit annoyed. The fact that in three weeks we would have been parking that car in our nice new driveway in Arlington has not escaped me either.
When I called the police and gave them my plate # I asked them who I should call to find out if it had been towed. The guy said "That would be us." They don't have it, so it was removed from my street by people that were not me, Jess, or local law/traffic enforcement.
This is going to be annoying and expensive, but not ultimately catastrophic.
Major sucktastica! That's the kind of headache you never need on top of everything else. :( I hope things settle as quickly and as simply as possible. Bastards.

Here's hoping the police find it none the worse for wear.

Sometime in there it got taken. I woke up strangely disoriented around 3:20 this morning, but I doubt that had anything to do with anything...

The timing is so horrifically ironic.
