I agree---- I've cut back on fb a lot because of that. But in moderation it can be a cute forum for sharing thoughts and pictures.

I liked the comment one person made about how Facebook is a way for us to stay in touch with people who should have been out of our lives 15 years ago. It's so true, and the same reason I went through and purged my friends' list not long ago. My news feed is filtered down to the very minimum and it makes life much easier.
