I can't believe how scared I am. My appointment is monday morning and I just feel so apprehensive. I really hope everything works out alright. Before this all got going, it was a bit easier to deal with, but now that it's actually going to happen, and SOON i'm getting really nervous. I've never had any form of surgery at all before. Have you heard of the book Our Bodies Ourselves? It's an excellent health guide from a feminist perspective. It has a really good chapter about the whole process and coping with it too. Best Wishes to you.

You've got lots of recourse for support: in LJ communities, in me, and in your many friends who know about it. You've already been so much braver than I, by coming out in public and asking people to give you support.

It's perfectly normally for all of your emotions to be topsy turvey for awhile afterwards. Just breathe and make as much time for yourself as necessary. Some people need a mourning phase afterwards, others don't. Take whatever you need.

Know yourself, be sure of what you're doing, and the rest will follow
