As I said above, local politics isn't the same as national. I would never vote for a Republican for congress or president, but on the local level that game is different.

I have a long black skirt that I wear when I have to go on a marae. It's only ever for funerals anyway. Like why fight it? I can be covered to the ankles for a few hours even in the middle of summer. My sister and i share it and the shapelse's black sweater you are obliged to wear at the same time.

Being from the southern part of the US is...nuanced. The Dems used to be the worst. They were called Dixiecrats and basically attempted to prolong segregation and hell on earth for as possible. Now, idk. Some republicans seem ok again (Lincoln was one), but the others are batshit. We shall see. The way things work over here is that local and national politics aren't the same. At all. On the national level people tend to be complete dicks, but on the small scale sometimes people still want to make a difference. The country is kind of large.

I didn't need a sweater since it's still 70F here (I never did learn warm temps in C, just cold ones).
