You should watch the Today show where she explains herself. She answers the question again, the answer's still pretty lame but it at least makes sense, and it even seems like she rehearsed it.
i believe that US educators, I mean, those that teach to the US kids need to have very good teachers, I mean, role models that kids can aspire too... you know... look up to so like they won't make any more sense than I do in this Q&A session

I agree with what Razorcat said, it feels like a lot of things are just a push to prepare for those tests, and a lot of things on them aren't very relevant. Taking those tests feels so stupid because of the ridiculous time limit or just the array of questions that seem totally random.
