The Etiquette of Low Traffic Communities

There is something really presumptuous and annoying about going into a low-traffic community and cluttering it up with endless drivel.

I, for one, appreciate when a community is used. If there was another community like etiquette_lj, that actually has something to say, I would have dropped this community in favor of the other a long time ago. Communities are meant to be used, they aren't just there to take up space on a person's userinfo page.

What would you like this community to say?
Also, if you want to create an etiquette community that fits your ideals, then by all means do so. I didn't create this community to be the defacto standard on journaling etiquette; it was just to start a discussion on how to not annoy and piss off people in Livejournal World.

I just wanted to be able to read and maybe write some posts about things that have pissed me off while going around live journal world. And creating communities when there is already one there to share one's feelings is something that annoys me. I don't want to create a community when there is already one here. I want people to use this one, and thats what robert_jones is doing, he is using the community. What I don't want to see is people whining that someone is using the community, which was the basic point of this post. Like I said, communities are meant to be used, not just to look nice on a userinfo page.

Well, there is no mandate to joining communities. If a person doesn't like what they see, they're not required to join.

I've seen no evidence of "endless drivel".

I also like to see the community getting used.
