Dear Grandma,
Well, I just got off the phone with you and I’m following your direct orders to write you a letter☺. Life has been pretty nice to me as of late.
School’s been great. I’m pretty sure I’m pulling mostly A’s maybe a few B’s. Joelle will be off to college in the fall. The house will be pretty empty, but there’s always Isabelle. She’s just been her crazy self, every day she has something new to show us or teach us.
Mom’s been keeping herself pretty busy with work; sometimes she doesn’t get off ‘til 11 o’clock.
Dad is staying home and keeping himself busy with fixing things and doing odd jobs for people. He’s the regular handy man of the town. This morning I wake up to find a pile of pancakes he had made us for breakfast.
Colette and Jason are doing well. Colette helping us all with our dental hygiene now that she works at Doctor Coleman’s office. Jason is working hard and always giving me a good chuckle.
Well, how about a little more about school? In Biology we planted bean plants for an experiment. We are learning about evolution right now. In Geometry we just got done with a little bit of Trigonometry and are staring on learning about circles. In P. E. we are playing pickle ball. It’s quite fun. I accidentally hit a girl in the leg with a whiffle ball and she got a pretty nasty bruise. In Spanish Mrs. Eukranitz is still trying to drill preterite and imperfect tenses into my classmates’ heads. I, on the hand have very little trouble and am usually the class dictionary. In English we are reading A High Wind in Jamaica by Richard Hughes. It’s an okay book, but I liked To Kill a Mockingbird better. In Montana Government we just got done learning about the Native Americans and we just started on the revision of the Montana constitution in 1972. In art we are working with clay now. We are making drinking vessels. I’m planning on making mine to look like a palm tree with the leaves at the lip of the cup.
On the whole, I’m excited for summer. I won’t have to wake up for my 7 a.m. class and I’ll hopefully have a job to earn some money. Next year will be pretty exciting, a new season of Speech and Debate, new and old faces, and another year closer to college. Well, I love you grandma and I hope you received this letter well.

Love,

Rochelle Cote

P. S. Here’s some books I would suggest:
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Alaska’s Wolf Man by Jim Rearden
Mrs. Mike by Benedict and Nancy Freedman

Today has been a great day. I feel bad for not writing to my grandma sooner . . . such is life.
