Ooh. How wonderfully... quiet this is. Very interesting AU considering what we know now, to see Cal and Gillian try something and fail. It's not overly done, not too dramatic but just enough heartbreak to ache just a bit. Nothing like a stranger to help you unload though. Very nicely done.

Ooh! plot!fic! I'm excited for that!

Thank you, so very much. Before we got any backstory, this was how I imagined it had gone; the second passage is actually the first thing I ever wrote for this show, but then I left it sitting on my computer for almost a year! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Hee, thanks! I've got most of it straight in my head finally thanks to my beta, so writing should happen faster now. I'm terrible at WIPs though so I want to get it finished before I start posting it.

I've had stuff sitting around on my harddrive for eons too, only for it to magically find its way back lol. Weird how that works out sometimes. :P

I'm terrible at WIPs too. As a reader, I hate being left hanging when I do start reading some, so as a writer I try to have all of it if not most of it finished by the time I start posting. So good for you! You keep on going! I'm cheering for you! Yay plot!fic! We definitely need more of that. ;)

Hee, it's wonderful when it does find somewhere to fit in, isn't it? :)

Thank you so much! I need all the encouragement I can get. I've never written plot!fic before because I actually am terrible at plot. Hence why I want to get it all written so I can be sure it all flows and makes sense. ;) Exactly, having been a reader of something that was never finished, I'm determined to never be that writer. Thank you for the cheering, it's very encouraging! :)

A Fine Frenzy &hearts

I literally screamed out a "nooooo" when I read the last line of this fic. OMG, why is my heart so broken? Guhh.

But other than my tears freely flowing down my face (:P), this was extremely beautiful. The tone of it was so dead-on, as was the diction. I loved all the little jumps in time, and the story of the old man in the end. &hearts Really well done!

I'm sorry! I thought about adding a happy in-the-future moment to the end, but it didn't fit the feel of it. But, the way I look at it, is that it can just carry through into season 2 if you want it to. So Honey could happen after it, if you like. :) I'm so happy you liked it. Thank you for your gorgeous comments. ♥

Oh no, I'm super glad you didn't add a happy moment in the future. It wouldn't have necessarily fit. The way it ended was the way it should've ended. It was just hard to read, hehe.

Very touching. The wedding scene was my favorite. I've always wondered what her wedding must have been like for Cal.

Thank you. I have a notebook full of quotes and song lyrics but those ones have always been very Gillian to me.

And thank you! It was meant to be temporary while I worked on something a bit more graphic-y, but I actually really love it as it is at the moment. :)

Me too! I have a notebook I do that with too! Being the quote, song hoarder I am, I need somewhere to write them down.

I really think that header is great, it's simple but says a lot!

Oh darling!

That is. Wow. That is quietly devastating. I love it and hate it at the same time! *laughs* It's gorgeous and it's quiet; it's not about huge gestures or declarations of love, it's not a passionate affair, it's just the fact that they knew they had something and that is just so them.

Of course it kills to me to think that they were so aware of their feelings but had to put them aside for his family. But as Gillian said, rightfully so. It just hurts a little!

How's the plotfic coming along? I cannot wait to read it.

Oh, you have no idea how much your lovely comment made me smile this morning!

I'm thrilled you think it's them; this is how I always saw it happening before we got all the backstory in Sweet Sixteen. The second sequence is actually the first thing I ever wrote for this show, but then I left it sitting on my computer for almost a year. I'm happy it found a home eventually in this.

Gah, me too. I started writing a happy in-the-future moment to tack onto the end, but it just didn't fit the feel of the piece. But, if it makes you feel any better, you can imagine all the things from season 2 happening after this, like Honey. :)

Thank you so much, really! ♥

Plot!fic is actually progressing now! My beta has helped me really get my head around the plot part of it so hopefully my writing will speed up now. Thank you for your encouragement, it's very much appreciated. :)

Always happy to provide smiles! And besides, this put a huge smile on my face so it only seems fair to return the favour!

I really, really do. I absolutely feel like they wouldn't jump into a passionate affair or even have these explicitly defined moments where there feelings were concerned, at least not initially; it would absolutely just be something that they both quietly knew.

I love when you can find somewhere to fit random things from other fics. I have so many bits and pieces of things I love but just never managed to fit properly into other fics.

Yay for progressing plot!fic! Very happy to hear that.

That's what I loved most about them from the moment they were introduced - there was a quiet understanding there, even while she was married to Alec. It's a deep friendship with something more that they've never allowed themselves to feel. I thought it would be really interesting to write about them having felt and experienced it, and then had to give it up.

You can even post them as ficlets if they're just stand-alone scenes. :)

Thanks. :)
