Rose vs The Gym [OTA, tag Oliver Wood]

Sep 20, 2009 20:00

Rose had been keeping quiet on the island. She was still torn about exchanging one prison world for another. Not that she was supposed to ever think of Pete's World like that. It was supposed to be home. Just like she was supposed to believe this place was home ( Read more... )

Oliver was just finishing up with a client, helping her with the stretches and pretty much oblivious to the fact she was perving on him as he knelt beside her, when he noticed the lass enter the gym and hover by the treadmills. He recognised her, but he couldn't quite remember from when. It had to have been in the very early days he was here, but that was a long time ago. Over a year now. He certainly hadn't seen her again since. She looked awkward, and he was used to that. Not everyone felt comfortable in a gym. Either you loved it or you hated it. If you hated it, there was a chance you might come to love it if you could find something you enjoyed doing. It was hard to sway most people, though. Still, he did try.

He smiled at his client and confirmed their next appointment the following morning before he slung a fresh hand towel over his shoulder and approached the woman with a smile. "They dinnae bite, you know," he told her.

"Erm," Rose started inelegantly, almost jumping out of her skin at the voice. She clutched her towel tighter in her hands, trying to resist the urge to tug her underwear from her butt. The tights she wore really weren't all that comfortable, but apparently they were for working out in. "Are you sure? Wouldn't be the first time inanimate things have tried to kill me."

Oliver blinked and then his forehead creased a little as he tried to process that comment. "Well, that's... unfortunate..." he said warily. No way was he touching that comment with a ten foot pole in case she veered into a story about electrocuting vibrators or something. In saying that, he had heard worse stories during his time as a personal trainer here on the island. The worse would always be the guy who gave every single gory detail about his lobster-induced food poisoning. It was enough to put Oliver off seafood forever. He nodded. "I'm sure. What's worrying you about them?"

Rose turned to look at the owner of the voice, once again being rendered speechless for a different reason. "Erm..." She winced, then gave him a sheepish smile as her tongue poked out between her teeth. "Sorry, I swear I'm usually a lot more talkative than this. Guess I'm worn out just from the idea of exercise. It's my ability to coordinate while on those things."

Rose's head whipped around, the voice all too familiar, and for a moment she wouldn't let herself believe it was really Captain Jack Harkness. She hadn't seen him in so long, and the sight of him was overwhelming.

"Jack!" Rose threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly as she broke out into a grin. "Is it really you?"

"Always!" She was still laughing, and just about climbing onto him despite the public forum. She couldn't believe it was really Jack. She'd missed him a lot. Missed the simpler times when it was them, and the Doctor. Before... before the Cybermen. "Can't go a night without dreaming about you, Captain Jack."
