I believe in reincarnation simply in that we get to come back if we want. It seems unfair to give everyone one chance and if you fuck it up you're doomed forever. I like to think that you can come back to Earth if you really want to. The whole remembering past lives thing is bullshit though.

Well, "unfair" kind of implies an arbitrator or some form of arbitration system. Under my (materialist) world-view such a concept doesn't make any sense. Not to mention "coming back" implies a separation of body and soul which I don't believe exists. So while I like the idea of reincarnation a lot, it doesn't fit in to the world as I know it.

And I'm not sure it is unfair; people say that life is short, but is it really? I'm about a quarter to a third done with my life, ie the majority hasn't happened yet, and I've met a lot of people, gained a lot of skills, and wasted an enormous amount of time. All of my isolated mistakes that are over a year old have been reversed or become irrelevant. I'm confident that the same will be true for the more recent mistakes. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's hard to describe an entire life as a failure, since we all have successes and failures.
