Ridiculous!

I took my networking midterm today, it took 10 minutes. No joke. It’s not because I am brilliant, it contained just 17 multiple choice questions. I stayed up till 3:30am studying for it, in excruciating detail. Anyone what to talk about how DHCP or DNS* works ( Read more... )

Bummer. I just had a midterm that cheated me too. Everyone kept saying "no math" and what did I get... math. I think I still did all right though.

Which networking class was this? And have you done subnet masks yet? I could never figure that out...

Its 341. Yeah we have covered subneting for the most part. I think I get it, but I am sure when I tried to apply it, it would be a different story.

They have some new guy in place to teach the course, who prefaces everything with "If this were a real networking course,..."

So you didn't get anything out of 341?

That's really too bad--I got a ton out of the networking class. That's the main problem with Informatics, in my opinion. There are a bunch of half-assed CS rejects and others who dick off the entire time they're in the program and produce shitty work, and the faculty is often too scared to give a shitty grade to anyone. However, the program is really sweet if you make it sweet. You both should do an Independent Study with a prof you know and respect, and I think you'll find it to be a really great experience. I did two and it led to me working at Intel Research and going to cool conferences, and doing awesome work in some of my classes ( ... )

Ohh, and that shit pisses me off--the iSchool has some really great faculty but they've also got some shitty ones too...when we took it, it was probably the best and broadest networking course taught at the school...only a CS class went deeper into the specific programming say of a network protocol, but for practical applications 341 was the best and the B-school as usual couldn't hold a candle too it.

Who is teaching it?
