Really? I have never heard that, and well, after reading this tongue in cheek recipe from her, I can see why. The line about DRA (Daughters of American Revolution) and having the ladies over... Well I just started cracking up!

"STONED dates"? Did she say STONED dates? I thought that came AFTER you plied some hunk with the treats...

Is this like sourdough where you have to use some of the old to make the new?

My step-mother used to make her own mayonnaise...but one of her ingredients was mayonnaise...

Well, not sure if you are being funny or not with the Stoned part, but stoned is in reference to taking out the pits or "stones" of the fruit. Many in modern cooking are not familiar with the term. All that being said...the use of stoned dates like a started for sourdough is VERY chucklesome! Chucklesome...is that a word? It is now! Write that down. HAHAHAH.
