It's a beaut! And the figured back plate is the most magnificent piece of cocobolo I've ever seen. As for cracking... my first macassar guitar developed a HUGE split all the way down the back the second winter after I bought it -- I'm talking 2mm of daylight between the sides of the split here! The luthier patched it so perfectly that even I can't see the repairs, and it made absolutely no difference to the guitar's tone whatsoever.

Speaking of tone, what does it sound like, as fresh out of the workshop as it is? :)

Still a little tight, but still in that time of rapid maturation. Again, I think it fascinating how similar in voice these early fan-braced efforts are to the modern classical. Where my little maple Austrian guitar braced with simple transverse bars says "Pinnng", this Panormo copy says "Pinnnnnnnnnng" ...if you know what I mean. I carry tremendous love for them both, but they are sonically very different.

PS: Columbus Guitar Society meeting is tomorrow afternoon, details as they appear in a great many of my posts. Anybody within driving distance to Columbus, OH is welcome to swing by and noodle a bit...although I believe that only includes a couple to read here.

Thanks for the reminder. I did attend, and saw the guitar, and even played it for a bit. Great sound, particularly for such a young instrument. As someone in the audience noted, I was getting a much larger sound out of it, than either you or Joe Ricci, but then, I was always considered to be a loud-mouth.... the important thing is that there is more to this guitar than meets the eye.

I wish the guitar was equipped with a shoulder strap, so I could really hold it the way I am used to. Which reminds me: all original Panormo and Lacote guitars were equipped a strap button. Your guitar is missing this very important item, and as such, it is not a 100% replica...:-)

Indeed. Almost all the Panormo guitars I've seen went so far as to have strap buttons set into both the head block and the tail block from the back (not the butt or even heel). ...But, as alluded by your slyly grinning emoticon, I'm much more interested in reproducing personally useful functionality than pursuing perfect, exact replicas without purpose. Sorry, Matanya, I just don't do straps.
