When I think about death, I think more of technicalities rather than of the actual fact of departing this world. I have never understood why would people choose cremation over funerals, although there is some logic to it: mess-free, hassle-free, tears-free; burned and scattered and done with.

We cremated my mom last year due to financial concerns. They didn't have money and my husband and I had to cover it.

Those are just ashes - dust. Nothing sacred. Her real legacy lives in my memories. Let the dust be scattered on the wind - it's not her anymore!

But she can never be taken from my heart.
