polyphemus, the artificial intelligence:not truly artificial, but basically an image of an average human brain placed into a machine/computer capable of simulating brain chemistry well enough that the AI is still a human mind, for all intents and purposes. point - polyphemus cannot clone itself into another such machine/computer

yeah this is the science-fiction one. the other one that i told you about is fantasy, with a little historical fiction thrown in.
