Gossip Girl 2x05 The Serena Also Rises picspam/recap

Sep 30, 2008 12:11

Heeeeeeee! Last night's episode of Gossip Girl was craaaazy and I felt the need to do a little picspam/recap.

Originally it was just going to be the Dan/Chuck scenes, but I couldn't stop myself from throwing in most of the episode.

“Beat it, Humphrey, my sister doesn’t dig stalkers.”
Heeeee! I love it when Chuck gets all sibling-like with Serena and Eric. It's so weirdly in character.

“Don’t ever go to high school, Dorota!”
Blair has a tempter tantrum that signifies the beginning of her meltdown this episode, and it is a hilarious little thing in itself. I'd recommend watching it. It starts right after the scene with Chuck (:26)

Jenny resignedly realizing she's somehow pissed Blair off yet again.

The end of the scene after Blair's fit - poor, silly Dan.

Eleanor and Serena fail to recognize the storm that's about to hit, and now everyone has to go down.

“What’s your father like?”
“Me. Only older. And meaner.”

"Excuse me?"
Dan's reaction was the best part of this moment. I need an icon of it or something. xDD

“Did you just call my girlfriend a prostitute?”
“It was an honest mistake.”
Disturbing "Life's about to get shittier for Chuck unless someone does something" music starts to play quietly.

WHAM-O, music crescendos, and I think Chuck is a wee bit smitten. ;) In case it's unclear: Chuck insinuates girl is prostitute. Boyfriend of girl takes offense. Boyfriend of girl springs forward to attack. Dan decks him, right in the face. I learned something today: I like watching Dan punch people in the face.

You feelin' like a horrible father right now, Rufus?

Good.

Chuck says something about Dan having his back which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard because basically Dan just went out of his way to protect someone he's never shown much inclination to even consider a human being from a situation that was entirely Chuck's fault. That's a little more than 'I got your back, man' material.

In a moment of sheer insanity, Blair attempts to destroy Jenny, Serena, and Eleanor in one fell swoop by sending Serena out in one of Jenny's dresses.

“I waved the white flag at school. Why don’t you just claim your throne and leave me alone?”
“Because I can’t!”
[...]
“You might be privileged, Blair, but you’ve worked for every single thing you’ve ever achieved... like me. Serena just glides through.”
So this whole episode has been sort of a Humphrey love fest for me except for Rufus-I-don't-know-how-to-parent-and-should-have-just-gone-on-tour-because-Dan-could-do-a-much-better-job Humphrey. I am pleased!

Chuck finds Dan's paper and realizes he's trying to write a story about him and then attempts to redact his earlier statement about his mother dying giving birth to him by saying it was a lie and his mother died in a plane accident when he was six and Dan can just rot in jail forever for all Chuck cares he obviously does which is ridiculous for two reasons, both of which show just how shaken up Chuck is about the whole thing. 1) Whatever Dan's reason for starting the night off with him, he ended it by punching a guy in the face for him; knowing Dan, there's no way he's going to write that story (and if he does I'm gonna be pissed) and 2) Dan may be hardheaded as a mule, but he's not stupid - that attempt to take back the story was just a flashing neon sign announcing his vulnerability which Chuck, of all people, should have realized.

“If I have to exploit people to be a good writer... maybe I’m not a good writer.”
Dan tells his writing-mentor-guy to GTFO and he's gonna write about what a crappy mentor he is instead of about Chuck, which makes me LOL all over the place because the guy just paid bail for him.

Blair comes back to the realm of sanity thanks to Jenny, they fix the whole mess, and then...

Serena tosses her right back into the deep end because of something some chick she barely knows said. I'm not really loving this side of Serena.

Rufus is a crappy father, and he's untalented. What a sucky day to be Rufus.

Dan is writing what I hope will be a pleasant surprise for me and Chuck next episode.

“Waiting for a star to fall. XOXO, Gossip Girl.”

Oh, Gossip Girl, you never let me down. :)
