Aww they are really cute! I hope Rosa gets better soon. My cats HATE clay litter. The one time I accidentally bought some they would get in the box stomp about a bit and then not do their business.
And no, laser pointers aren't nearly as much fun as playing chew face with another kitty.
I use Fresh Step Clumping with the odor eliminating carbon (the bags are clay while the boxes are clumping, thats how we had our mix up). When I brought Freya home she thought it was the best stuff ever when I plunked her down in it, flying cat litter everywhere ^_^.
Clumping kitty litter is potentially very dangerous for kittens. It clogs up their tiny tiny systems. It's fine for older cats that know not to stick everything in their mouths, but kittens are stupid like babies and eat things they shouldn't.
i look forward to amanda's reply and i bet you do too.
i've been living with an old dude cat so long that i can't stand the hijinks one a one-year-old (ringworm! glandular seepage! climbing!). being adorable is an accidental survival mechanism; i don't know how we could do the things we do otherwise.
do you know what kind of litter the pound used? maybe she'd go for something familiar. i have no specific advice, because ours is dusty and chokes us all.
when i move out for school i am going to miss my mellow adapted-to-me 14-year-old guy so goddamn much.
she went through four stinky treatments and it looks like it's back, the filth.
also, she likes to catch cockroaches in the garage and bring them into the house. combined with her habit of dropping things in our shoes when she wants to play: JUST ADORABLE
For ringworm, I dip them a minimum of six times and give itraconazole, if the owner can afford it. Then I re-culture the cat's fur to make sure it's gone. Still, that shit can live in the environment for two years and easily re-infect.
She's trying to teach you how to hunt dangerous beasts.
I'd talk to your vet about the litter issues... in some extreme cases (usually with older cats) potty issues can be signs of kidney disease etc.
though, to me it sounds like it may be a territorial thing with the other cat. have you tried putting the litter boxes away from each other? I had some friends with a similar sounding problem, and it was all fine after they put one box upstairs and the other downstairs.
