The band was Funland. It looks like they rereleased one of their albums in 2007, according to allmusic. The album with the song on it that I liked so much isn't listed there, but it was called Sweetness. The song I liked was a sappy ballad that is apparently a cover, but I don't know of what; the song title is just "Obligatory Cover." (Fun fact: I was unfamiliar with the term cover when I was a kid, so I thought there was some sort of deeper meaning to it). I still like the song an awful lot.
