A new volcanic island was created recently off the coast of Tonga. It reminds me that we're still living on a changing planet and that we'll never really every know or be able to plan for everything. It has a chapter about asteroids. The bottom line is, that it's not very likely we'll find out if a major asteroid is about to hit us. If we do it's just random luck and still we'll probably can't do anything about it. There's also a chance that super-volcanoes like yellowstone park or Iceland erupt. That's also pretty much the end of life as we know it. There's so many things we've got zero control over it's actually comforting.
Regardless, if you haven't read it: highly recommended!
