Photographic to-do.

On this year's list of things to do for, or add to, my photographic arsenal:
  1. Actual, important things:
    • More work with enhanced dynamic range images. Yeah, yeah, digital sucks, blah blah medium format is great blah blah - but I'm no fan of gelatin, and I don't currently have the resources to devote to medium format. Or large. Anyway, digital's got ( Read more... )

only problem with Aperture I've found so far...which IS a big one
might not be true for the D70 but every photo I take with my canon Powershot G5, when imported into Aperture directly...the whitebalance is KILLED, it literally turns all of my photos orange, and I'm not talking slightly, I'm talking it takes me 45 minutes to get looking decent and not GOOD either
but my work around is importing into photoshop, fixing a bit, and then taking them into aperture which isn't ideal but my photos sure look a hell of a lot better which is sad...

CS2 though kicks butt

and if you ever want to go shooting I'm allll for it and willing to drive to Green Bay (not sure about Portland but maybe haha)

Are you shooting raw with that thing? If so, it's not properly interpreting the embedded white balance profile when it's importing, and... I have no idea why.

'course, I'd recommend dropping raw in favor of JPEG for a wide variety of reasons, unless you know e x a c t l y why you're using it, and you have a super need.

Also, is the color temperature slider not enough correction?

And lastly, if you're on flickr, I'm Masque there too. I don't usually put my keepers up there - mostly just ones that I wish had been better. Motivational, it is, to see my semi-successes. Or, as I call them, "failures".

CS2 does look very pretty. Hope I can afford it soon.

As for shooting - yes. I'm probably out of Green Bay for good after June or so; let's make sure to get in a session or two beforehand. Alternately you could come see why I like Portland better for photos. At least in the summer. Or spring. Or fall. Just not so much tonight, really.

Photoshop CS2 and a Canon Powershot A620 are apparently mine to master this semester. Just to warn you that I may be looking up to your mountaintop for image-related wisdom.

It would, of course, be an honor to assist in any way I can. That's a mighty fine camera, too. Canon does great things.

Yes, portraits are a good idea. You, and mariotta if she still wants, and I know prema wants a few as well. Perhaps if there's a non-rainy day the weekend after this one? Or indoors would be fine too, I suppose....

Shooting is a good thing. I may have some spare ISO 400 Fuji color film you could use, even. I know I have a roll of T-Max 400 somewhere as well.

Yeah - you're still shooting an N80, yeah?

I also have a Lensbaby 2.0 you might get a kick out of. It has such delicious effects on full-frame bodies.
