Likewise… Most people only look at your successes and think you have it easy, but have no idea about all the failure and pain along the way.
Or as I just said to someone, if we do a project and it goes perfect with no errors, then no one says anything positive and assumes it was easy. But if someone screws up bad and gets the fall-out fixed in half a day then it’s “man it was a little rough, but they did a good job getting it together”.
Eurassia, I have to say, I'm always amazed at how much you're doing at one given time. You always have so many projects going on at once, I'm never quite sure how you do it :) All that "luck" in all the good things that are happening to you are the result of a lot of work, and a lot of skill in being able to keep all those little balls in the air.
hehe, balls...
P.S. I know what you mean, I feel like a bigtime complainer these days. I actually had the thought the other day "I'm a good person! Don't I deserve to live in a house without rats and with furniture that doesn't shred?" ;)
usually when bad things happen to people i blame it on bad luck or something and not their actions..but i totally understand what you mean its kinda like when bad things happen to a person they blame themeselves.. and when good things happen they say its luck. that is unless they are very confident in what they do :)
I've gotten similar comments especially from older folks: "Wow, when I was your age we had NOTHING like those international opportunities you have". No, when you were my age you were too fucked up on acid and/or pregnant to get involved in CUSO, WUSC, PeaceCorps, Canada World Youth, Oxfam, UNICEF, MSF, Red Cross, World Food Programme or Amnesty which all have long histories. One overseas program I did has been going on annually since 1947.
It's like they wasted their own lives and the fact that I didn't is just my luck for being born in the 80s. Yeah boomers, because the 80s were SOOOO AWESOME!?!??!.
TOTALLY! You're right on the ball there. Also, you can START an organization or a project, you don't have to wait for it to come up and stick itself in your lazy apathetic ass.
You're right, it's not luck. Everything good that happens to you happens because I pull some strings. I'm very well connected. You can send me a thank you muffin basket in the morning.
I had always hoped you would secretly stalk me! Now my dreams have finally come true, and my fantasies of turning you straight, marrying you, and having all your babies are one step closer...
