I've heard a bit about some new Merlin....but why are they doing this again? Seems a bit silly, if you ask me. But then again, this is going on absolutely no knowledge of anything so I should probably shut up and learn what's going on before I make sweeping decisions like that, LOL! ;)
The guy is nice looking, for sure. I'm just too attached to current Merlin (and Arthur) that it doesn't seem to coincide with my brain :).
I think STARZ is going to make it all sex, nudity and violence...which is okay. See I don't mind it, like with HBO's True Blood, there I love it. But STARZ' shows seem to be all spectacle but very little heart and soul.
At least there is no reason to confuse this Merlin with our Merlin. I will watch it, but I doubt I'll grown to love it. And I'm sorry, I think the guy playing Arthur is kinda..well...hideous.
LMAO!! OMG HE'S THE KID FROM Sweeney Todd - - hahahahahahaha!!!! THAT IS SO, SO HILARIOUS *cracks up* :D
I will NEVER be able to take him seriously as Arthur, ROFL! ;) All I'll think of when I see him is that kid singing about Joanna (Johanna...?). Haha, hilarious! I loved that movie, actually. Saw it like 3 times in the theatre and have re-watched it many times at home since. I'm a weird one! ;)
But OMG I didn't realize who it was that was playing Merlin. Damn, he's HOT! Anywho...;)
Still seems pointless to me, and I'm not going to watch it. But good to know! :)
HELLO SWEETIE! I hope you're job is working out and your flatmates are all nice people!
And yes I think I'm back for real, real :D
Tanya, I think, has just been caught up in a lot of real life stuff since she's come back from her Wales vacation. I'll let her know to drop you a few lines.
As for Camelot's Merlin...I think he's supposed to be in his 30s and Arthur in his late teens/early 20s. And yeah I very much doubt this will confuse me in any way....I don't think they'll be going the gay route either *cries* Even though there is a chance for full frontal male nudity.
AHAHAHA! Oh god, no. I simply cannot take Joseph Fiennes seriously! I mean, I love the concept of warrior monk!Merlin, but that man! (Couldn't they get Ralph Fiennes? Or, OH! Liam Neeson! Christopher Eccleston...) I'm sorry, I don't think JF is that good at anything other than looking all tragic and lovelorn. I'm not a fan.
And hell yeah, our Merlin is ruthless! (I mean, it may kill him to do it, but just look at the lengths he goes to for Arthur and Camelot!)
I loooved J Fiennes in Elizabeth and Shakespeare in Love, but I understand where you're coming from. I can't really imagine him as a badass monk-y Merlin either. And I may be totally off the mark here, but I don't think STARZ's shows are really all that well written.
I think they're going to bend over backwards with this show to give us a much sex and violence as they can.
I love those glimpses of ruthless Merlin so much. I wish they would really address it in season three. Like Gaius realising just how far Merlin would go for Arthur, or there being some really serious consequences.
Yeah, I don't see 'serious consequences' happening, considering Merlin flat-out killed Aredian in S2, and then he and Gaius laughed about it. Gaius doesn't exist to be Merlin's conscience anymore - he's simply there to negate any sort of moral that the storylines might try to have. /bitter ranting
I know, right! In a few years times when we're all pining for a new Merlin/Arthur story it would have been perfect. I have a feeling this show won't be one in which I will emotionally invested in, but I'm open to being pleasantly surprised.
I'm actually more interested in Jamie Campbell Bower as Arthur. I'm following him on twitter and he's adorable in a little puppy kind of way. Josie's always a bit hit-and-miss really. Generally though I'm not sure I'll watch unless I hear good things about it.
And dammit I think I need to get twitter. I'll have to look around to see which celebs I would follow. Someone suggested Stephen Fry and Joseph Gordon Levitt.
