I miss the street lamps in D.C. They would start their obnoxious glow once the night sky hinted at darkness. Stars? Fuck stars. The only one visible was the big bright North one. And it never really got there, the darkness. There was always was this orange glow from lamps, from homes, from passing cars. The sky looked purple instead of black due to years of light pollution. I complained about it, but I loved it all the same.
