Pairing Mix-Ups

Jan 20, 2008 07:08

Been getting some really weird feeds on ff.net of late. (I know, it's ff.net, by definition the feed is weird) but I don't get why people get so steamed when you decide to write a story outside of the main ship when the story is CLEARLY MARKED AS SUCH! No, I'm not kidding when I say Spike/Faith. It's not Buffy in a wig, it's Spike with his dick in ( Read more... )

Ohh! You have a Spike/Faith fic? On ff.net? What's it called so I can find it.

And I have no idea why people post such complaints. If I don't like the way a story is going, I just quit reading. But there are tons of diehard spuffy fans out there. Sometimes they scare me.

The Spaith is in an AU fic called "Seconds" it's part of the shards series. It's in my LJ Memories section. And on ff.net under europanya.

What a wonderfully well-stated rant! What more should you have to do when posting a story? You're just right on all counts...and yes, what is the name of the Faith/Spike fic. I missed it, too:(

*snorts* Just having a good vent for good ol' time's sake. The Spaith was in the Shards series, the story was called "Seconds". It's an AU in an ultimately Spuffy-centric world but in that world is was Spaith under the covers. It's in my Memories under Shards Series.

I really love it when writers mix up the ships. Non canon pairings are often more fun. Especially during a hiatus like this when all we have is our imaginations. Or, when a show is off the air -- then you should really not be upset by all sorts of mixed up pairings, because, really, anything goes at that point! Don't worry, most of the complaints are probably from 12 year old girls, anyway. lol

I suspect you're right about the 12 year olds. But in my X-Files days is was 35 year olds complaining about my *gasp* slash novel. And don't worry, I still plan to fill in for the 'off the air' shows we're suffering with! My mind won't stop!

Well, I guess there are prudes in every fandom. But all you have to do is read the summary info, jeez. I'm so glad you will continue to feed my Moonlight cravings... after all, fanfic writers can't go on strike, we don't make any money. lol

I'm with you on this. My response to those readers: Read the damned header info, and if you don't like the pairing, don't read it.

[shakes head. some people....]

It's just, weird. I think once you write a particular pairing some readers feel betrayed if you do something out of the box. In which case, mind the headers!
