Time to Seriously PANIC!!!!

SO I had my first night of Intermediate-Level Japanese last night at the new college I had to transfer to since my old college decided to cancel their upper level Japanese courses just as I was ready to start taking them. And the experience scared the living crap outta me, here's why:

1. The class is taught entirely in Japanese.

*hugs* - all will be well ;)

sorry, but I have to giggle right now. No 11 make me think of that day 4 years back when I went to that nice restaurant at Hollywood Blvd. with those wonderful American Women ... remember? I bet I said some stuff like you did in that class - or even worse ;)))

*hugs*

Oh, not at all! I understood you perfectly well! You have a lovely accent, too! No, I really really suck at conversational Japanese. For one thing the sentence structure is backwards so I have to think in reverse most of the time and uh, when the nerves get you it's a disaster! But honey, you've got no worries about your English. It's wonderful!!

Oh boy, well, its sink or swim time, but it's probably the better course?

Did that mean you had to get new books and will get rid of the old books?

It appears so...I need to login to the system and see what the instructions were, this was all in the email I missed, evidentially. But it looks like I have to go buy Book I as well as Book II of the new series which means, no I wouldn't need my old textbook unless my husband wants to take the classes eventually. I gotta get my head wrapped around what the heck I'm supposed to be doing first. Ack!

Ohhhh! D:

That bites. It'll get easier, though, promise. Or, that's what I'm telling myself about my French class. I mean, at least YOU'VE been practicing. *didn't speak French for three months*

I've been hard at practicing reading Japanese but not so much on speaking it. I fear that uses two different parts of my brain. :0P

Speaking as a foreign language teacher, GOOD FOR YOU!!! You were able to tell basics about yourself. Also, you will learn so much more when the class is all in the language. Good luck! I know how scary it is. When I went to Russia the first time...had little to no Russian skills...and all classes were in Russian! But by the end of the semester, my skills were so much improved.

Good luck to you!!

I think once I get over the panic, I'll feel much better. But until then. Yikes!! Thanks for the boost in courage, however.
