Still alive. Overview.

We've been Budapest for I think 10 days now, though several of those days were day trips out to other areas of Hungary. We're just now getting ready to head out to the smaller towns, specifically Pécs, Szeged, Sopron, and Kőszeg, then off to Vienna and Prague.

The good:
- I have enough, right now, to write my paper. Everything else is just fleshing it out if possible.
- I've met some wonderful people, both Hungarian and not, and been generally treated very well by all of the locals I've met.
- Everything is so cheap! Even in the big city!
- It's god damn beautiful here. Bit cold.
- I am so well fed. Tasty, tasty, tasty food. Everywhere. All the time.
- Turkish. Baths.

There's way more good to say, but it's long-winded and complex, and I'll save it for when I get back and can process. I should take some time and really journal in my paper journal very soon, before I forget. Right now all that's in there is short notes, and it's mostly academically-related.

The bad:
- I got sick as soon as I stepped off the plane. I've been running a 100-ish degree fever and been dizzy, constantly, all day, every day, for 10 days. Nothing else is wrong with me really- no cold symptoms like coughs or sinus troubles. Just really dizzy. For the first few days I did everything you're supposed to with the vitamins and the resting and etc, but now I just don't give a fuck and am doing everything anyway. Of course, I was still going out during the day to sightsee even during the first few days.
- Unsurprisingly, I managed to get a UTI from the baths. Went to a clinic and it's taken care of.
- I was so unbelievably homesick for my first several days here. I've never experienced it before, except when I was 12 and on my first exchange trip away from home. Since then, I've had no troubles whatsoever with homesickness. Combined with the delirium of the fever, the first couple nights I was well-convinced that I was going to hop on a plane back home the next day. Of course once it got light out I got a little more sane, but it was that difficult for me.
