Sleeping with a skink

Skinks need some lovin' too, right? Especially if you are a juvenile five-lined skink that has lost part of your blue tail, probably to one of four cats in the house. You would definitely want to find a dark, warm, surprisingly soft rock to curl up under for a nap. Where's the harm in that?

Anyway, I'm trying not to sleep all day so that I can sleep ( Read more... )

skink, nap

I'm not sure whether to say Eeeeewwwww!!! or Aaaawwwww!!!

But he does look awfully cute, so I'm gonna go with "Aaaawwwww!!!"

Definitely an Aaaawwwww!!!, for me at least. I love little lizards. We actually had anoles (like salamanders) for pets for a while. They don't live very long in captivity. And they smell very unique when they pass. So I'll stick to admiring the lizards OUTSIDE and not keep any (even the really friendly ones) as pets.

Aaawwww! I haven't seen a skink in a long time, not since I lived in the South.

Shannon must be quick because those little guys are damn fast.

I think Shannon was the least stunned of the two. I think the poor little guy was still trying to figure out how it got really cold and really bright at the same time when he didn't move at all. Once Shannon had him in hand though he definitely started a squirming. Luckily she made it outside before he escaped.

And I say lucky as in lucky for him. He was already missing part of his tail. Our cats would have LOVED to have "played" with him again if he'd made a break for it while still inside...

Isn't he, though? I do so love lizards. The real reason I have Geico is not that they gave me the lowest insurance rate, but because of the gecko...
