Prague is nice, Amsterdam has lots to see/do. But do you mean you're taking only 3-4 days to see all of Belgium? >_> Or is that in addition to the week?
If I had several days for anywhere in Europe, based on where I've been, I'd likely go for Greece (Athens). If not there, Italy (either Venice or Rome).
It'll be about a week in Belgium (I get there on Tuesday morning, leave on Sunday). Then I'll have Sunday-Thursday to spend in city #2 -- I finally decided to go to Amsterdam. Thank you for the recommendations -- I'll definitely look at them for next time!
Berlin is amazing, I think that's the main city I wish I'd gotten to spend more time in. I was there for 2 and a half very quick days and it was not enough. Food, drinks, museums, the S-Bahn/U-Bahn, all the plazas, etc. I just thought it was magical. You might want to check out other cities in the Netherlands too. Den Haag and Rotterdam are great, though of course you can NEVER run out of things to do in Amsterdam.
I would gladly spend 3-4 days in Paris ( I love it there; have been twice before.) Depending on what you like to do, there are churches (Notre Dame, St Chapelle, etc.,) art (Louvre, Orangery, etc.,) sites (Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, etc.,) food, wine, pastry...
I went to Berlin, Prague, Amsterdam and London last spring and really loved Prague and London. In fact, I'm planning another trip that involves stopping in Prague again. Everything was really walkable and now is the perfect time to visit Prague because all of the Easter markets are open. There are tons of neat gifts and traditions associated with Easter.
I keep hearing good things about Prague. Thanks! I finally decided on Amsterdam (just because it's closer and my time is so limited), but it's totally on the list for next time.
Amsterdam was also really pretty (I spent Good Friday in Amsterdam last year) just be forewarned that Easter is a big holiday throughout Europe so there are lots of tourists. If there's anything you want to do, plan it in advance. There's also a bunch of sidetrips from Amsterdam and the tulips are really nice this time of year.
I would actually suggest picking either Paris or Amsterdam and doing one of those cities for the remaining days. Spend a few days exploring the city and then take a day trip out to the countryside and see a castle or small village or something. I can guarantee you that one or two days in Paris will not be enough (I was there for two full days a few years ago and I saw very little). The cities are neat and everything but I think you would be doing yourself an injustice by not seeing a bit of the countryside.
Thank you! I picked Amsterdam. I'll have at least 3 full days there, so I'm hoping to take at least one day trip. Paris is definitely on the list for when I have more time.
