I keep on having bad dreams where I buy yogourt but when I get home, I find that the foil cap of the yogourt isn't sealed in one part. Frightening.

I was originally going to write, "What kind of crazy spelling of yogurt is that...what are you, French?"

Then I looked it up and 'yogourt' is a less common but valid alternative to yogurt/yoghurt.

Then the word yogurt starting swimming in front of my eyes and lost all meaning.

Oh, believe me, Kate. I went through the exact same thing. I looked it up because I knew there were a few ways to spell it. I found that my attempt at spelling the word was valid. Better yet, it seemed to be a pretentious Canadian spelling so I ran with it.

I totally understand the word losing all meaning thing. It's kind of enjoyable. It's a sort of abstract look at language. But no one else ever seems to understand when I tell them about it. Like I'll say "Haha, 'doing' is a funny word". Then they'll just think I'm weird. I have to be in the right frame of mind for it to happen though.

Yogourt mold IS scary. Sometimes, I find mold growing on the surface of mine even when the foil cap is sealed perfectly, and it is still weeks before its expiration date. I get paranoid when I see mold (after so many biology classes that are dedicated to fungi, I do not feel like inhaling any more spores).
I should really return it to the store, but on second thought, it would be kind of wierd to show up at Customer Service with moldy yogourt.

Oddly enough... while on my travels I said the word yoghurt at some point and an Aussie I was with proceeded to laugh about the way we pronounce it. They still use the H like it's important to the word or something... we don't (hence the removal in some spellings!). I immediately mocked her pronunciation, of course, and all was right in the world.
