F*ck me it was cold out there this morning! With azekeil taking a couple of days off, I'm commuting on the bike¹, and I'm so very VERY glad I don't have to go all the way to Bristol anymore. Just over to Gloucester was quite far enough!

Personally I refuse to believe that the number of people who have been diagnosed with swine flu is equivalent to the number of people who have actually had it. The symptoms listed could be applied to a multitude of things, including just a bad head cold, and since you're being diagnosed (mostly) over the phone by someone who is not a trained medical practitioner, the odds of them getting it wrong seem quite high to me.

Agreed. The stats, presuming they are the same ones that I use at work (and whenever I see them in the media they're pretty damn alike! hehe), are the number of people that complain to their doctor about cold/flu like symptoms.

As the authorities have moved to the next stage - in which proper diagnosis doesn't happen - there is no way of knowing if Pig Plague is on the rise, or if people are just going to their GP where historically they might have self medicated.
