Why is it that if I don't have breakfast with my coffee, I'm fine until around lunchtime, but if I DO have breakfast with my coffee, I'm hungry again within the hour, and constantly want to snack all morning ( Read more... )

Possibly, I did appear to be having sympathy cramps last night...

(I suspect a case of "I hate Fridays. Oh wait, it IS Friday. Damn.")

Is it Friday today? I hadn't noticed ;)

That is what computers DO - they work fine and lovely and then they just Stop. Normally when you need to print something very urgently, or you were half-way through something and hadn't saved. Curses.

My God!

IT LIVES!!! :-P

Yeah, re the stomach, I think its something to do with the fact that it stays asleep until you put something in it, then assumes you require energy for sustained period 'x'... Jo and I were talking about something similar this morning.

Nothing wrong with Fridays.... I get Fridays off... 3 day weekend for the w1n. :-)

Caffeine screws with your blood sugar. I can only assume that if you don't eat, you don't have any extra sugar to dump into your system in response to the caffeine, so you don't notice any effect. If you do eat with the caffeine, your body burns through the sugar faster because you've hit it with caffeine, and you spike then crash, hence the hunger and snackings.

I don't know what you eat for breakfast, but I'd recommend something with super-slow release energy like wholegrain toast plus lean protein. For some reason, adding protein to a carb meal makes the carbs release more slowly, and wholegrain carbs are slow release to start with. No refined sugar, so no fruit juice or sugar in your coffee!
