On getting the book:

We got there at around 10.

There was a Dumbledore doing the Sorting named "Randy". I giggled.

My dad waited in line a lot with a ticket while I looked for Damien Rice music. I <3 that man. I am going to marry him. "Woman like a Man". Oiwelksdlkagsgoire ( Read more... )

So does my Cho characterization, sadly. I was honestly expecting something less fanon from JKR on Cho. She rubbed me completely the wrong way and I had really liked her in GoF, from what little we saw of her since I put her as a self-insertion vehicle back then. (Being Asian and all...)

I just didn't quite understand WHY Cho was all up in Harry's groove all of a sudden. I mean, maaaaaybe it related to Cedric and Cho wanting someone to cry with? I dunno. I didn't quite hate her, but her interest seemed a bit...left field to me.

Sirius: what can I say? I didn't see it coming but it didn't really move me.

Well, I read spoilers because I am bad like that, but same reaction for me. Up until this book where I have totally found my love for Harry and my love for Fred and George has grown in leaps and bounds, the only canon character I found really interesting and would have been pissed beyond belief if he had died, is Snape.

There were far better destinies in fanfics, really. The one in Trouble in Paradise comes to mind. The one in the fucking Eliza Trilogy was probably more interesting... the only nice thing was that it included Neville.

I didn't really see Sirius as a "fan"...

Yes, Cho's sudden interest was very strange. And all the weeping. Honestly.

Oh, yes! Her constant crying! She's all slick and making moves on Harry and then....weeeeeeeeeeep....

I haven't read many destiny fics. I tend not to like the idea of a phopecy in general. I much prefer the idea that people do things because THEY do them, not because they are destined to do them.

But, like I said before, it did have an interesting twist to it.

Oh, and the thestrals were way cool. I was intigued by the fact that Draco couldn't see them because he hasn't witnessed death. Makes me think that pops hasn't been training him or killing muggles around the manor.

Shit. I just realized that one of my fics just went AU when you mentioned Draco not seeing them... :P

(so are so effing lucky you don't write fanfic, you know that?)

Just do what dancingrain said. Do your fic, and just state that it is based on pre-OotP canon.
