This is a continuation of one of my previous posts, although reading it is not necessary, probably better if you don't. This actually has a narrative thread.

As aleph_0 said, it's a) ripping off Chuck Palahniuk and b) pathetic, but hey, I'm not as disillusioned to think about actually writing novels for publication and such. :D ( Read more... )

This was really going well, and I flying high, lost in the story and the language, until suddenly, the floor dropped out from under me and I was left staring at (Read comments). Translation: your ending is a little abrupt. Maybe some sort of closure would be good, and not leave the reader feeling cheated. You've developed a very sympathetic lead, and as usual, your stylistic choices were wonderful. I love your imagery and metaphor choices. Now make me blissful and finish it!
:-D.

Awww... *schnoogles* You're very sweet. Although I just sort of lost steam there at the end. I'm lazy like that.

Have you read Fight Club? If not, you should read it if you want to see this style being done properly. This is really a sham of Palahniuk's style; I'm trying it out for fun more than anything.

Yeah, I figured that was the muse/inspiration. And as my dear old music teacher used to tell us, practice makes perfect. Fight Club is actually in my loooong stack of To Do books that got rudely shoved aside for OotP. But now I must finish The Picture of Dorian Grey by Wilde even if it kills me. As for art imitating real life experiences (ie your experimentation w/ Palahniuk's style) I currently sound like a turn of the century middle-upper class gay british man. Try and beat that. :P

That was just My Bad - I was thinking you were referring to post and not to the phrase. :)

Who's Douglas Coupland? (as in, what sorts of things would you be ripping off if you were to rip off him?)

Wow. That was amazing. I've read Fight Club, and it seems you've got Palahniuk's style down quite nicely.

I'd very much love to read a continuation of this.

Ah - by the way - found you throughout many journals and friended.

Wonderful. Very nice. You write it like you've been there. I don't know if you have or not, but this is a very good thing and will cover over a multitude of sins. :D I know it "ends abruptly," but it doesn't look like you're finished, so don't let that get to you.

I giggle a little. I think Anna Kournikova's breasts are getting to me. - Hee! I lost it over that one. And Cindy makes me think of Anne from Office Space. This is not a bad thing - it's only because Office Space is one of my favorite movies. My advice to the main character is to walk, don't run, out of that apartment. I don't care if they are married. Aaaghhh. Of course, he seems content to let her do things for him. Kind of like he likes being led around. If that floats his boat...

People keep finding me via mctabby's friends list. I'm glad I looked at it myself and found you. I skimmed the post you sent up yesterday. Will finish it now and hope for more. Thanks!

You write it like you've been there.

Haha, it amuses me to no end when people ask if I've actually experienced what I've written. In RL, I'm a suburban teenage girl... ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed it; I've really been surprised at how nice people have been about my 'original' writing. Nice to meet you, Spacegirlg. :D

Original stuff is the best! (I say as I post with my Young Dumbledore icon... *whistles*)

Take advantage of your suburban teenage girl writing time. I piddled mine away writing about robots and really bad fantasy. I'm still writing about robots, but I have far less time in which to do it, LOL.
