The scene: Friday night, 9:02 pm, in front of the television. After too many previouslies, the camera swoops along Galactica and comes to rest in a deserted hanger, where six people surround a kneeling figure.

Me: "Oh, this can't be good."

And it really, really wasn't. Don't get me wrong, it was very well done, but EXCEEDINGLY uncomfortable to watch. Like when Geraldo Rivera displays emotion. The teaser was brutal (great work by the actor playing Jammer), and it just kept on being brutal for the entire episode. I usually rewatch immediately, for analysis purposes, and this week...I haven't. Not once. Part of it was being busy, and part of it was- well, why would you want to put yourself through that again? I'd put this higher on the uncomfortable scale than even "Pegasus", which I think we can all agree was pretty fucking brutal, but at least there was a THEM - the Pegasus crew. This time, it was all US. Which of course is the point, but still, ow.

Poor Kara. Poor, poor Kara. How is it possible that doing these horrible, repugnant things only serves to underscore how very, very lost and insane and broken she is? (Answer: KS is awesome.) I even love her descent, as her disgust and self-loathing makes her divest herself of everything that makes her human and/or lovable. Cue Lee.

I'm really starting to feel a disconnect between the New Capricans and the Galacticans, and because we (the audience) were down on New Caprica with those characters, a disconnect between the audience and Galactica. All of which to say: Adama? Not all that interesting a figure anymore. Central, certainly. But all the angst and sacrifice and character development has happened down on the planet, to Kara and Anders and Tigh and Chief, and Adama, with his mustache-shaving and chant-receiving and hall-walking and slow-clapping, seems not to get that. Things can't go back to how they were, character-wise, no matter how many reset buttons are pushed, and I'd think the less of him (AND the show) if he doesn't wise up.

I love Chief (well, duh, he's the POV character), but strongly question his choice of wives. Someone cut your arms free, told you to run, saved your life, and you don't even remember?!? Up yours.

I'm excited about: kj_draft's House fic, especially Catalyst. It's Wilson/Cameron and House/Cameron, very hot and very ouchie. Alan Tudyk is guesting on CSI this week, and that PC/Mac commercial where they're in couples counseling makes me inordinately squeeful. I'm flying for New York (well, New York via Boston via Providence) in just a little while. Have a great weekend, everybody, and take care.
