My dad's name is also Steve Johnson, so I can testify that it's ridiculously common. My favorite story about it is when my dad went on a business trip and stayed in a large hotel, and my mom had to call five times before the hotel finally connected her to the correct Stephen Johnson (there were three Steve Johnsons staying in the hotel, including two Stephen C Johnsons).

At least my dad now has his own wikipedia page to help with the navel gazing.
