My Uncle John always took me to the Father-Daughter Dance every year! (And I'd be jealous that I couldn't do Mother-Son Bowling instead!) I grew up in a mostly yuppie town where I guess they could get away with things like that... after all, who cares if one girl in school feels like a weirdo because she doesn't know her daddy?
I got my dad a bit later in life than most, but boy, do I love and appreciate him. Hope he likes all the smelly soap crap I just bought him!
lol I'm sure he'll love the soap. I remember my HS having a father-daughter dance and that was on year that he was semi-trying to be involved. I had an uncle let me know he would go to the dance if I wanted, but at the time I was still trying to keep some sort of relationship with my dad going so I took him.
I still regret that, and I remember regretting it then too. Shortly after I pretty much told him I didn't want to have any relationship with him.
lol I had my kids make key-chains for "an important male in your life"...I generally got brothers, unlces, and grandfathers...so at least there is that!
