What's all this about, dudes? I'm sitting at work early morning downing coffee and this chick I don't even like comes running up to me squeeing about an 'eigth' HP book?? Or am I barmy? What's 'Pottermore'?

The bulk of what it is still sounds a bit vague. In her announcement, she said that it's the only place to get digital audiobooks and e-books of the existing series, and that she'd be sharing tidbits of info that never went into the books (I'm thinking these'll be some of the things she stored up for the encyclopedia).

But as to what Pottermore itself is....she used phrases like "a safe place for readers to share, *participate in*, and rediscover the series" and an "online reading community centered around" the Potter stories. So, it could be a massive RPG, or it could be a big discussion forum...still not really sure...but very intrigued!!

Looks like the types of info she plans to share could be the inspiration for many new fanfics (heh) - Professor McGonagall in love with a Muggle in her youth? Thrilling!!

Wow. This sounds amazing. Not as brilliant as an 8th book, but I was never silly enough to believe that for a second anyway *glowers at dim colleague*

The very thought of getting new info on these characters we all love so much is wonderful. So exciting. Really, HP is the sort of fandom you don't ever truly leave, and us few faithful seem to have proved that with our continued delving into the world. So I'm chuffed. :D
