Took Thurs and Fri off from work last week.  The 4-day weekend rocks.  Didn't get a whole lot done, but slept a lot, read 2 books, caught up on some miscellaneous TV, and just enjoyed being not-at-work.  Note to self:  take time off more often ( Read more... )

"Turns out that the previous owner: 1) Didn't clean the floors (and has 2 dogs and a cat), 2) left a fridge full of food, and 3) had the power turned off - so now the fridge is full of rotting food. "

EW!!! If it's in the clauses for the legal papers about the house being left in good working order or whatever, they can get the cost of the # of hours they spent cleaning it from the sellers I bet.

And WAIT, didn't they do a final walkthrough? That's the realtor's fault if he/she didn't catch that stuff!

Hope they get that cleared up, no fun moving into your new exciting moldy house.

Glad you had a relaxing weekend after your day of omgwtf-ness.

I'm not sure about the walkthrough part of it. The woman selling the house was a bit of a nutcase, and it wouldn't surprise me if there was a little lag time between the walkthrough and when she actually vacated. I'll have to ask my mom about it though.

This deal was a vast improvement over the previous house they were about to buy a few weeks ago. The guy who owned that place cancelled the deal the night before they were supposed to sign papers because ... oh, he and his wife hadn't actually packed, or... you know, found a new place to live.

It seems there are at least a few off-kilter people selling houses in Florida these days.
