See, I'm not so sold on the Ellen thing yet. Yes, it's a possibility. But Tigh's been seeing her everywhere he looks lately. Is it not possible that he copy/pasted her face in this memory as well? Soooo yes, maybe, but I'm not sure. Though it does fit nicely with D'Anna's whole thing about only 4 of them being in the fleet.
The main thing is, if Ellen was the fifth, then what the frak is Starbuck? Whoa was that shit nuts. Awesome nuts, but nuts.
And Tory? Someone needs to just drop a giant rock on her.
I was a bit surprised with Baltar. I'd forgotten he was a super smart scientist, so seeing him back in his lab coat I was like wtf mate. And then I was like, oooooh yeah.
And Dualla? I was wondering why they were paying so much attention to her this episode.
Yeah, I started getting the doom-vibe for Dee when she did the "previously on..." voiceover, and especially when Lee invited her out for a drink.
I read an interesting theory that Ellen isn't really the 5th, but actually an older 6. It would fit in with Tigh seeing her in the place of Caprica 6 in the brig, but that also could've been his cylon projection thingy going wonky.
No idea what Starbuck is. I would've been disappointed if she had been the 5th (because she's already such a speshul snowflake), but if she's not I'm really at a loss.
It would totally make sense if she is the final Cylon, but at the same time, it's soooo obvious that I don't think they'd do that. I also was not expecting them to reveal the final one in this first episode, so that's another reason I'm a bit sketchy about Ellen.
I agree that the early Ellen reveal is a bit sketchy, but I also read an interview with someone (Tyrol, maybe?) saying that episode 11 could have served as a series finale if the writers strike didn't end promptly.
Which is stupid, really, because 1) most unsatisfying series finale EVER; and 2) clearly this show is a friend to the hiatus so a longer strike delay shouldn't have mattered.
The only thing that makes me think that Ellen is the real thing is that BSG doesn't have a history of lying to the viewers. Misleading sometimes, but never flat-out lying. Well, we'll see.
